About Us

 

Train For Life™ Fitness & Lifestyle Consulting is a local Saskatoon personal training and fitness studio owned by Andrea Doepker-Gavidia, B.Sc.Kin.  We have provided personal training and fitness services in Saskatoon since September 2007. In August 2011, we opened our doors to our downtown fitness studio located at 227A 2nd Ave S., to provide you with a personalized and private setting. Our personal training services are by appointment only and our classes require prior registration. We encourage you to book your complimentary consultation to check out our studio and meet with the owner to discover what we have to offer.

The Train For Life™ personal training and fitness studios feature Keiser® M3 Spin Bikes, strength training equipment such as cables, medicine balls, dumb bells, ViPR as well as stability equipment such as balls, bosu and TRX & rip:60 suspension trainers.

Our Services

Consultations

Our complimentary intitial consultation is designed to review and discuss your health history, physical activity levels, nutrition habits and set fitness and lifestyle goals. This 30 minute consultation takes place with the owner, Andrea Doepker-Gavidia and then you'll be placed with the Personal Trainer best suited for your goals and schedule. Start with a consultation by using our online booking system or call Andrea at 717-5657. If a complimentary consultation is cancelled within 24 hours, the next booked consultation will be charged as a personal training session. 

 

Personal & Partner Training

Meet for personalized training sessions with a knowledgeable trainer who will design effective programs to help you achieve your goals. Whether you’re new to exercise, a competitive athlete or somewhere in between, discover what exercises are right for you and experience a positive change in your health and fitness. Training types can include muscular endurance, strength, power, flexibility, anaerobic, aerobic, speed, balance, coordination and agility. Contact your Personal Trainer by phone or email or use our online booking system to schedule your appointments to fit your schedule.

 

Group Classes

With a small group of four, you’ll be sure to get the personalized attention you require from your Personal Trainer! We offer small group classes throughout the day such as Mix It Up, Learn to Run clinics, TRX and rip:60, Spin, Youth classes and 1/2 hour Noon Blast. Classes are typically 6 week sessions. Use our online booking system to view our upcoming class schedule and register by clicking on Group Classes!

 

Work Place Fitness

We offer work place presentations on various topics designed to meet the needs of your work place! We can also offer personal training and fitness classes in your corporate gym, school, fitness facility or outdoors in the summer. You don't need any fancy equipment... if you have an open space/ room to use we can develop programs accordingly and bring the equipment we need! Gather up a few friends and colleagues to create your own class (8- 15 participants) at a time and location that is convenient for you! Saskatoon Boot Camps

Enjoy the fresh air and explore Saskatoon’s surroundings through these fun and rewarding outdoor boot camps in Saskatoon during the summer! We offer 4 months of outdoor Boot Camp Blast from May- August. These boot camps are for all fitness levels so there's something for everyone. Challenge your body to become its fittest! Learn proper exercise techniques while testing your body in different ways. 

 

2012 Boot Camp Blast

Location: Kinsmen Park

Attend unlimited classes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00- 7:55pm

6 week sessions: April 30- June 8, June 11- July 20, July 23- August 31

Qualifications

 

We pride ourselves on offering educated and experienced personal training and fitness services. All of our Personal Trainers must be certified through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP). Each Train For Life Trainer is required to attend professional development courses and workshops and maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. We are also proud to be a part of the University of Saskatchewan Kinesiology practicum placement for 4th year Kinesiology students.


CSEP Certified Personal Trainers (CPT) require a minimum 2 year College Diploma or 2 years of University coursework in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field. CPTs are required to complete 25 + hours of practical work with healthy populations, pass a National Written Exam with a minimum of 70% as well as pass Practical Evaluation Stations.


CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologists (CEP) require the successful completion of a 4 year University Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field. CEPs are required to complete 300+ hours of practical work with both healthy and unhealthy populations which include individuals with cardiopulmonary conditions, musculoskeletal conditions, metabolic conditions, neuromuscular conditions, and aging. CEPS are also required to pass a National Written Exam with a minimum of 75% as well as pass Objective Standardized Practical Evaluations.
